- 3x Intel Romley server nodes with Intel Xeon E5-2670 (2.9GHz) Processors
- 2x DataON Storage DNS-1640 2U 24-bay JBODs
- 4x LSI 9207-8e 6Gb/s SAS HBA per server node
- 48x STEC 6Gb/s SAS MLC 400GB SSD drives (9.6TB per JBOD)
The recent test-bed solution consisting of three clustered server nodes with a single DNS-1640 2U 24-bay SSD JBOD achieved 1.45 million IOPS (Input/Output Operations per Second) with a sustained throughput over 12.6GB/s.
When adding a second DataON Storage DNS-1640 JBOD (48 STEC SAS SSDs total) to the storage pool Microsoft was able to achieve maximum performance of 2.7 Million IOPS and 20GB/s sustained throughput using a cost efficient storage solution in a fault tolerant configuration.
